Evaluating Crop Insurance for 2021 Wheat
Author: Scott Stiles, Extension Economist

The USDA-Risk Management Agency (RMA) announced today the 2021 projected price for soft red winter wheat.  The projected price approved for Yield Protection and Revenue Protection plans is $5.54 per bushel. This is up from last year’s $4.86 per bushel. Link to the full RMA memorandum

The crop insurance sales closing date for wheat in Arkansas is September 30, 2020.

Producers are encouraged to visit their crop insurance agent to learn specific details for the 2021 crop year. Agents can help producers determine which policy works best for their operation and review existing coverage to ensure the policy meets their needs.

Crop insurance is sold and delivered solely through private crop insurance agents. A list of crop insurance agents is available at all USDA Service Centers and online at the RMA AgentLocator. Farmers can use the RMA Cost Estimator to get a premium amount estimate of their insurance needs online.
