The Arkansas No. 2 Yellow Corn Cash Market rose 5 cents over the weekend and held the gain through midweek. A strong upward price surge on Thursday was also sustained to end. the trading week (Figure 1). Price opened on Monday at $3.19, 6 cents under the statewide average opening price of the previous week Monday trading. The market held mainly steady until Thursday when an 18 cent gain was added. Price lost only 1 cent on Friday and closed at a statewide average of $3.35, an overall 21 cent improvement from the previous week closing average. Highest daily individual market price for the past week was $3.44at Osceola on Thursday. Low quote of the week was above the $3.00 level with a $3.01 quote at Little Rock on Monday. Five markets provided quotes each trading day during the past week. Helena also provided quotes on three trading day. Closing prices on Friday across the six reporting markets ranged from a low of $3.15at Little Rock to a high of $3.43 at Blytheville, Osceola, and Pine Bluff. The closing range of 28 cents was 3cents wider than the previous week.
