The past week for Arkansas No. 2 Yellow Corn Cash Market saw price moving within a narrow range until midweek when the statewide average plunged lower on Thursday and then more than regained the loss on Friday to end the week (Figure 1). The market opened on Monday at a statewide average of $4.04, a 6 cent improvement over the previous week opening day and 5 cents over the previous week closing average. Price held its weekend gain and remained virtually steady through Wednesday before falling 12 cents on Thursday. The market did a complete turnaround on Friday by posting a 15 cent gain that took the closing statewide average to $4.05, an overall gain of 6 cents from the previous week close. Highest daily individual market price for the past week was $4.18 at Pine Bluff on Monday. Low quote of the week was $3.66 at Little Rock on Thursday. Closing prices on Friday ranged from a low of $3.79 at Little Rock to a high of $4.17 at Pine Bluff. The closing range of 38 cents was unchanged from the previous week. Seven markets provided price quotes each trading day of the past week.
