The Arkansas 2018 No. 2 Yellow Corn Cash Market posted a weekend gain of 4 cents, gained another 10 cents on Tuesday, and then gave back 3 cents in Wednesday trading to close the week. USDA-AMS did not publish market reports on either Thursday or Friday of this week and does not plan to publish a report on Monday as it observes the Columbus Day holiday. The weekend gain pushed the market to an opening price of $3.76 this past Monday, an improvement of 5 cents over the previous week opening day price. The market reached a statewide average of $3.86 on Tuesday (Figure 1). Price retreated on Wednesday to close out the short week at a statewide average of $3.83, an overall 11 cent gain from the previous week closing mark. Highest daily individual market price for the short week was $3.96 at both Little Rock and Pine Bluff on Tuesday. Low quote of the week was $3.62 at Old Town/Elaine on Monday. Closing day prices ranged from a low of $3.69 at Old Town/Elaine to a high of $3.94 at both Little Rock and Pine Bluff. The 25 cent range was unchanged from the previous week closing range. Only five markets provided price quotes during the week.
