The Arkansas 2018 Crop Soybean Market started the past trading week with a weekend price loss of 9 cents. Tuesday trading had a recovery of 8 cents, but the remainder of the week saw price moving lower on a daily basis (Figure 1). The market opened Monday at a statewide average of $8.45, 13 cents over the previous week opening day price. The Tuesday recovery lifted the statewide average to $8.53, but the daily declines for the remainder of the week took price down to an $8.30 statewide average on Friday. The closing price was 23 cents under the prior week’s closing price. High daily individual market price of the past week was $8.82 at Osceola on Tuesday. Low quote for the week occurred on Friday with a $7.98 quote from Wynne. End-of-the-week quotes saw the closing day prices ranging from the low of $7.98 at Wynne to a high of $8.68 at Osceola. The ending quotes represented a range of 70 cents, 10 cents wider than the closing range of the previous week.
The Arkansas 2019 New Crop Soybean Booking Market contrasted somewhat from the old crop market. New crop beans gained 3 cents over the weekend prior to the past week. But the market followed a 2 cent Tuesday gain with three straight days of decline that left it with greater overall weekly losses than the old crop market (Figure 2). The market opened on Monday at a statewide average of $8.66, 24 cents over the previous week opening day price. Price climbed to $8.68 on Tuesday, but suffered daily losses the rest of the week to a Friday closing statewide average of $8.45, an 18 cent decline from the previous week closing price. High daily individual market quote of the past week was $8.80 on Tuesday at Blytheville. Low quote of the week was $8.29 on Friday at Wynne. End-of-the-week quotes saw the closing day prices ranging from the low of $8.29 at Wynne to a high of $8.60 at both Osceola and Blytheville. The 31 cent ending quotes range represented a widening of 5 cents from the closing day ending range of the previous week. The market continued to receive price quotes from all thirteen major locations across the state each day.
