The Arkansas 2018 Crop Soybean Market had a short week as no Thursday or Friday reports were published by USDA-AMS prior to the Easter holiday. Price rose 3 cents over the weekend prior to the past trading week before entering a sharp decline each subsequent trading day (Figure 1). The market opened on Monday at a statewide average of $8.60, 2 cents under the previous week opening day price. The market lost 10 cents on Tuesday and 9 more cents on Wednesday to close at a statewide average of $8.41, an overall loss of 16 cents from the prior week’s closing price. High daily individual market price of the past week was $8.80 at Osceola on Monday. Low quote for the week was $8.11 on Wednesday at Wynne. End-of-the-week quotes saw the Wednesday early closing day prices ranging from the low of $8.11 at Wynne to a high of $8.60 at both Blytheville and Osceola. The ending quotes represented a range of 49 cents, unchanged from the closing ranges of the previous two weeks. Ten markets continued to provide quotes throughout the week.
The Arkansas 2019 New Crop Soybean Booking Market matched old crop beans cent for cent in the short trading week (Figure 2). Price rose 3 cents over the weekend, but then lost 10 cents and 9 cents on consecutive days. The market opened Monday at a statewide average of $8.93 per bushel, 2 cents under the previous week opening price. The early Wednesday closing price was $8.74, an overall loss of 16 cents compared to the last trading day of the previous week. High daily individual market quote of the past week was $9.07 on Monday at Osceola. Low quote of the week was $8.58 on Wednesday at Wynne. End-of-the-week quotes saw the Wednesday closing day prices ranging from the low of $8.58 at Wynne to a high of $8.88 at Osceola. The ending quotes represented a range of 30 cents, unchanged compared to the closing day ending ranges of the previous two weeks. The market continued to receive price quotes from thirteen locations across the state each day.
