January 17 Webinar: Cotton Market Outlook and Policy Update
Author: Bobby Coats, Professor of Economics
Food and agribusiness webinar

Join us Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 3 p.m. CST for the next Food and Agribusiness Webinar as we will be hearing from Dr. Don Shurley, cotton economist and professor emeritus of cotton economics in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, University of Georgia.

Cotton prices have come under pressure due to continuing trade uncertainties and economic concerns.  Cotton’s economic fundamentals still favor better prices, however.  The outlook for both 2018 and 2019 crop prices will be discussed.  The seed cotton program and ARC/PLC for all covered commodities is continued in the new farm bill for 2019-2023.  Changes in the new farm bill will be discussed and compared to the 2014 farm bill.

About the presenter:  Dr. Don Shurley is cotton economist and professor emeritus of cotton economics in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, University of Georgia.  He is widely published in industry media and websites, is a sought after conference speaker, and author of the Cotton Marketing News newsletter through Southern Cotton Growers.
