The Arkansas 2018 Crop Soybean Market lost 10 cents over the extended Christmas Eve-Christmas Day weekend and remained at that level until recovering its losses on the last day of trading for the week (Figure 1). The market opened the short week on Wednesday at a statewide average of $8.38 per bushel, 24 cents under the prior Monday opening statewide average. The market lost 1 cent to an $8.37 statewide average on Thursday before gaining 13 cents on Friday to end the week. The market closed on Friday at $8.50, a 2 cent gain from the prior week’s Friday closing price. High daily individual market price of the past week was $8.73 at Helena on Friday. Low quote for the week was $7.97 on Thursday at Wynne. The Wynne market submitted a price of $7.98 on Wednesday, the only sub-$8.00 market quotes of the short week. End-of-the-week quotes saw the Friday closing day prices ranging from a low of $8.11 at Wynne to the high of $8.73 at Helena. The ending quotes represented a range of 62 cents, unchanged from the previous Friday closing range. Eleven markets submitted price quotes throughout the week.
The Arkansas 2019 Crop Soybean Market lost 11 cents over the extended Christmas Eve-Christmas Day weekend and held steady on Thursday before regaining most of its losses on Friday to close the week (Figure 2). Price opened trading for the week on Wednesday at a statewide average of $8.84 per bushel, 26 cents under the previous Monday opening mark. The market gained 10 cents on Friday to close the week at $8.94, just 1 cent under the previous Friday closing average. High daily individual market price of the past week was $9.11 on Friday at both West Memphis and Helena. Low quote of the week was $8.72 on Thursday at Jonesboro, Wheatley, and Des Arc. End-of-the-week quotes saw the Friday closing day prices ranging from a low of $8.83 at Jonesboro, Wheatley, and Des Arc to the high of $9.11 at both Helena and West Memphis. The ending quotes represented a range of 28 cents, unchanged from the previous Friday closing range. The market received price quotes each day from nine locations across the state.
