The Arkansas 2018 Crop Soybean Market gained the 7 cents over the weekend and built on the gain for one additional day before entering a decline that extended through the end of the past week (Figure 1). Opening price on Monday was at a statewide average of $8.62 per bushel, 1 cent under the prior Monday opening statewide average. The market rose 4 cents to an $8.66 statewide average on Tuesday before seeing losses of 3, 6, and 9 cents to end the week. The market closed on Friday at $8.48, a 7 cent loss from the prior week’s Friday closing price. High daily individual market price of the past week was $8.90 at Helena on Wednesday. Low quote for the week was $8.13 on Friday at Wynne. End-of-the-week quotes saw the Friday closing day prices ranging from the low of $8.13 at Wynne to a high of $8.75 at Helena. The ending quotes represented a range of 62 cents, a 19 cent widening from the previous Friday closing range. Eleven markets continued to submit price quotes throughout the week.
The Arkansas 2019 Crop Soybean Market gained 2 cents over the weekend and added another 3 cents on Tuesday before entering a downward slide that carried price under the $9.00 level to close the week (Figure 2). Price opened on Monday at a statewide average of $9.10 per bushel, 2 cents under the previous Monday opening mark. After the gain on Tuesday, the statewide average lost 7, 7, and 4 cents, respectively on the remaining days of trading. The gain and losses left the closing statewide average at $8.95 on Friday. The closing price represented an overall 13 cent loss from the previous Friday closing average. High daily individual market price of the past week was $9.34 on Tuesday at West Memphis. Low quote of the week was $8.84 on Friday at Jonesboro, Wheatley, and Des Arc. End-of-the-week quotes saw the Friday closing day prices ranging from the low of $8.84 at Jonesboro, Wheatley, and Des Arc to a high of $9.12 at both Helena and West Memphis. The ending quotes represented a range of 28 cents, a 3 cent narrowing from the previous Friday closing range. The market ended the week with nine locations submitting price quotes as Helena resumed reporting on Friday, the last trading day.
