Rice Research Verification Program Update – May 28, 2018
Author: Ron Baker, Rice Research Verification Program Coordinator

By Ralph Mazzanti and Ron Baker, Rice Research Verification Program Coordinators

The southern fields which have the permanent flood established are Chicot, Desha & Arkansas.  These fields were flooded at the earliest dates according to the DD-50.  Minimal rice water weevil (RWW) damage has been observed.  Those fields that are being sprayed, fertilized, and headed to flood are Jefferson, Lonoke, and Lee.  Lincoln Co. is just emerging while Clark Co. has just been flushed.  In the north, fields are growing rapidly and have reached the DD-50 optimal window for preflood N and flood-up.  Weed control is good except for the possible exception of Woodruff Co. which will require a few more days to evaluate the full effectiveness of contact and residual herbicides on barnyardgrass.  See linked pdf for field-specific information:  RRVP Update May 28 2018
