By Ron Baker and Ralph Mazzanti, Rice Research Verification Program Coordinators
The Chicot Co. field has an established permanent flood. Arkansas, Desha and Jefferson counties are scheduled for spraying, fertilizing and applying permanent flood. Due to dry conditions and adequate heat units, rice is being pushed to flood earlier than normal in some cases. Rainfall has been scattered in the south ranging from 0-1 inch for program fields, the latter being Chicot County. In the north and central areas of the state, scattered showers were sufficient to eliminate the need to flush most program fields, Woodruff Co. being an exception, with plans to flush that field over the weekend. Post-emergence applications have begun and are scheduled for several fields over the next few days.
