The Corn Research Verification Program Fields are progressing well this week. All could use a rain. Both Grain Sorghum Research Verification Program Fields have emerged and Arkansas County received enough rainfall for pre-emerge herbicide to be activated.
River Valley Update– Kevin VanPelt (Conway County)
The corn crop in the River Valley has responded well to the warmer weather and looking much better. Producers have been applying herbicides and getting the sidedress nitrogen applications put out.
North East Update – Stewart Runsick (Clay County)
Corn planting is all but done in Clay County. A few replants are going on. Some acres failed and went to beans. Corn ranges from emerging to 4-5 leaf. There was some ammonium sulfate applications made this week. We missed the rain. Herbicide decisions will be made soon followed by irrigations.
