South Arkansas: The south fields continue to mature with the majority of the fields at mid to late boot stage. The Prairie County field is at 10% heading and Lincoln County is at 5%. Pulaski County was the last to go to flood and is at internode elongation. Disease pressure continues to be very low despite favorable conditions. The Desha County field is scheduled for a smut preventative treatment next week.
North Arkansas: There were some good, sunny days this week which was a plus for both stalk and panicle development. So far, no disease has been a problem in any program fields but the canopies are closing quickly now so we have been checking closely for sheath blight as well as for leaf blast and any other potential problems. Overall, the fields continue to improve including those that required some corrective N last week which, according to GreenSeeker, are back on track this week.
