Arkansas soybean market report for March 13-17, 2017

A modest 1 cent gain over the weekend led the Arkansas 2016 Soybean Cash Market into a week of trading that saw price remain steady to slightly lower.  The market opened on Monday at a statewide average of $9.91, a decline of 28 cents from the prior week opening price.  The market moved lower on Tuesday and Wednesday before recovering 4 cents on Thursday.  Price fell another 2 cents on Friday to close the week at $9.85, a loss of 5 cents from the previous Friday closing price (Figure 1).  High daily individual market price of the past week was observed on Monday with Helena at $10.07.  Low quote for the week was found at Wynne with an average of $9.58 on Wednesday.  End-of-the-week reported quotes left prices ranging from a low of $9.60 at Wynne to a high of $10.01 at Osceola.  Helena followed closely at an even $10.00.  The extreme ending quotes represented a range of 41 cents, a widening of 5 cents compared to the previous week closing spread.

The Arkansas 2017 Soybean Cash Market gained 2 cents over the past weekend, but price moved slightly lower throughout the remainder of the week.  The market opened on Monday at a statewide average of $9.89, the first week to open under $10.00 since January 30.  Price fell 9 cents on Monday, but then stabilized within a 3 cent span for the remainder of the week.  The market closed at $9.80 on Friday, a 7 cent loss from the previous Friday closing price (Figure 1).  High daily individual market price of the past week was observed on Monday with Old Town/Elaine at $10.02, the only individual market quote of the week to exceed $10.00.  Low quote for the week was found at Jonesboro and Des Arc with an average of $9.65 on Wednesday.  End-of-the-week quotes saw Friday closing day prices ranging from a low of $9.66 at Jonesboro and Des Arc to a high of $9.94 at Helena.  The ending quotes represented a range of 28 cents, unchanged from the previous week closing range.
