The 2014 Arkansas Cash Soybean market surged up 18 cents over the past weekend and gave promise to open the past week of trading. The Monday statewide average price was $9.95 and the market held most of the gain before a mild decline on Wednesday to $9.87. Price then surged again on Thursday to a close that reached the highest levels since March. Closing statewide average on Friday was $10.07, a 30 cent overall gain from the previous Friday closing price (Figure 1). High individual daily market quote of the past week was $10.42 at Osceola on Friday. Ten markets continued to provide price quotes. Low daily quote of the immediate past week occurred on Wednesday as Wynne reported a quote of $9.73. Friday closing prices to end the week ranged from a $9.93 low at Wynne to the $10.42 high at Osceola. These end-of-week quotes put the market price range at 49 cents, exactly matching the previous week closing range.
The 2015 soybean crop booking market gains exceeded the old crop market by gaining 20 cents over the weekend to open trading on Monday at $9.51. New crop market price remained steady through Wednesday before regaining strength to close out the trading week. Friday closing price was $9.75, a 44 cent advance from the previous Friday closing mark (Figure 2). High individual market quote for the week was $9.96 at Old Town/Elaine on Friday. Low market quote for the week occurred on Monday with Augusta at $9.24. All fourteen state markets continued to provide new crop quotes. End-of-the-week quotes saw market prices ranging from a $9.56 low at both Augusta and Wynne to a high of $9.96 at Old Town/Elaine. The ending quotes represent a range of 40 cents, a contraction of 5 cents from the closing quotes range of the previous week.
