A 12 cent weekend loss dropped the 2014 Arkansas Cash Soybean market to a Monday opening statewide average price of $9.32, an identical beginning to the previous trading week. Old crop price then trended only slightly higher through the remaining trading days before settling at a Friday closing statewide average of $9.40, a 4 cent decline from the previous Friday closing price (Figure 1). High individual daily market quote of the past week was $9.67 at Old Town/Elaine on Thursday. Several markets failed to provide price quotes on selected days or completely dropped out of the price quotations. Low daily quote of the immediate past week occurred on Monday with Augusta reporting $9.16. Wynne was just 1 cent higher on the same day. The range of price quotes for the week was 10 cents narrower than in the previous market week. Friday closing prices to end the week came from 10 markets and ranged from a $9.28 low at Augusta to a $9.58 high at Old Town/Elaine. These end-of-week quotes put the market price range at an even 30 cents, a 20 cent contraction from the previous week closing range.
The 2015 soybean crop booking market suffered less than half of the old crop weekend loss losing 5 cents to open trading on Monday at $8.92. New crop price showed some early market strength through most of the week before moving lower on Friday to a closing price of $9.04, a 7 cent improvement from the previous Friday closing mark (Figure 2). High individual market quote for the week was $9.34 at Old Town/Elaine on Thursday. Low market quote for the week occurred on Thursday with $8.71 reported at both Wynne and Des Arc. All fourteen state markets continued to provide new crop quotes. End-of-the-week quotes saw market prices ranging from an $8.81 low at Augusta to a high of $9.24 at Old Town/Elaine. Eight markets closed the week above $9.00. The ending quotes represent a range of 43 cents, an expansion of 3 cents from the closing quotes range of the previous week.
