South Arkansas: Farmers ran long and hard until Thursday night’s rain. Rainfall amounts range from one-half inch in Lee County to over 1 inch in Jefferson County and from 2 to 4 inches in Desha and Chicot County. Five out of nine verification fields have been planted. Several more fields are ready for planting as growers finish up grain sorghum and corn.
North Arkansas: Wet weather has continued to plague rice farmers and prevent dry-land planting in the larger portion of the area. However, in spots, planting has been possible and four of the eight fields, mostly in the southern part of the area, were planted this week.
