The 2014 Arkansas Cash Soybean market lost 3 cents over the extended Easter weekend and opened on Monday with a statewide average of $9.86. Price weakened steadily most trading days, reaching a weekly low with the Friday $9.58 statewide average (Figure 1). High individual daily market quote of the past week was $10.04 on Monday at both Blytheville and Old Town/Elaine. Low daily quote of the week occurred on Friday with Wynne falling to $9.33. Twelve markets provided price quotes each day of the past week with Helena and Pine Bluff being absent. Friday closing prices to end the week ranged from the $9.33 low at Wynne to a $9.77 high at Blytheville. These end-of-week quotes left the market price range at 44 cents, a 1 cent narrower spread than the prior week closing range.
The weekend loss in the 2015 soybean crop market exceeded the old crop decline. Price fell 6 cents and opened trading on Monday at a statewide average of $9.54 (Figure 2). Price losses followed on each successive trading day as the market fell to a Friday closing average of $9.29, a 31 cent decline from the previous end of week quote. High individual market quote for the immediate past week was $9.68 at West Memphis and Osceola on Monday. Low market quote for the week occurred on Friday with $9.13 at Wynne and Des Arc. All fourteen markets continued to provide new crop quotes. End-of-the-week quotes saw market prices ranging from the $9.13 low at Wynne and Des Arc to a high of $9.46 at West Memphis. These ending quotes represented a range of 33 cents, a 3 cent expansion from the previous week closing quotes range.
