The 2014 crop AR cash soybean market began the past week of trading with an 8 cent weekend loss to open on Monday with a statewide average of $10.49. Price then moved narrowly lower throughout the week to a Friday closing level of $10.39, an 18 cent fall from the prior week closing mark (Figure 1). High individual daily market quote of the past week was $10.82 at West Memphis on Monday. Low daily quote for the week occurred on Tuesday as Wynne fell to $10.08. All individual reporting markets again posted daily individual averages above $10.00 and below $11.00 each day this week. The Friday closing prices ranged from a low of $10.16 at Wynne to a high of $10.71 at Old Town/Elaine. These end-of-week quotes left the market price range at 55 cents, a 2 cent contraction from the previous week ending range.
The 2015 soybean crop market moved quite differently from the 2014 crop cash market this past week. Price followed the old crop market lower over the weekend with a 9 cent loss. The Monday statewide average was $9.96. Price fell another 9 cents on Tuesday before turning around with solid Wednesday and Thursday gains before leveling off on Friday, ending the week at $10.03, only a 2 cent decline from the previous end of week quote. High individual market quote for the week was $10.20 reported at Old Town/Elaine, West Memphis, and Osceola on Thursday. The low for this week was $9.67 at Des Arc on Tuesday. Thirteen markets continue to provide new crop quotes. End-of-the-week quotes saw market prices ranging from a low of $9.83 at Des Arc to a high of $10.18 at Old Town/Elaine, Osceola, Pine Bluff, and West Memphis. These quotes represented a range of 35 cents, unchanged from the range of the previous week closing quotes.
