Rice research verification program update for August 25, 2014
Author: Ralph Mazzanti, Rice Research Verification Coordinator

The heat units have added up this past week and grain maturity is moving fast. There are nine out of fifteen fields now draining in the verification program. Those fields include Arkansas, Chicot, Desha, Lee, Lincoln, Lonoke, St. Francis, Lawrence, and Prairie County. Two fields are at 100% headed and four fields are at 100% heading. RSBs have been very light this year. Only two fields (Arkansas and Chicot) have been sprayed for RSBs so far. Rice diseases also are in check. The fields sprayed with a fungicide were Lincoln County for sheath blight. Prairie and Clay Counties were sprayed for blast prevention. Hopefully three verification fields will be harvested this week.
