Soybean research verification program update for August 22, 2014

Rainfall was more abundant across the southern SRVP fields this week. Irrigation continues to be top priority at this point in the program and we have terminated irrigation a few fields. Desha & Lafayette have reached R7, harvest should be soon. Overall, insect and disease pressure was light in the verification fields this week.

Received .94” rain. Field continues to look good. Very little Frogeye on upper leaves. Clean of insects. 8-19-14 zero date for irrigation scheduler.

S48-F8 RR

R5 Received 1.3” rain. Other that being weedy, field in good shape. Free of insects and disease. 8-18-14 zero date for irrigation scheduler. Field continues to improve each week.
Clay Halo 5:26 LL  


Field received no rainfall since last visit. Field was irrigated on 8-19. No insect pressure this week. We found SDS this week.
Cross Progeny 4211 RR  R6.5 No rain since last visit. Insect & disease pressure remain low. Starting to turn color & drop leaves.

R7 Received .8” rain. Grease the combine.
Jefferson Delta Grow


R5 Received 1.6” rain. Found fewer bollworms and stink bugs this week, however, scouted right after rain. Will scout again later this week. Disease free. 8-19-14 zero date for irrigation scheduler. Looking better each week.
Lawrence – Rice Asgrow 4232 RR R5


Field received 0.5” since last week. Insect & disease pressure was light this week. Field was irrigated again on 8-19.
Lawrence – Wright Leland R5


Field received 0.14” rain since last visit. No insect or disease pressure this week. Field was irrigated on 8-20.

R7 Received .54” rain. Grease the combine.
Lee Asgrow

4632 RR/STS

R4 Received 1” rain.  Bean leaf beetle defoliation increasing. Irrigate over weekend.
Phillips-1 Osage R6/R5 Received .7” rain.  Older beans are beginning to dry down. Anthracnose in older SCN stressed beans causing bean damage in pod. Younger beans continue to look very good, no anthracnose found in them. Entire field is insect free. Irrigate younger beans early next week.
Phillips-2 Asgrow 4632 RR/STS


R6 Received .62” rain. Running 4 stink bugs/25 sweeps. Low incidence SDS showing up. Irrigation over weekend should be last. Looks very good.
Prairie Pioneer 95Y40 RR R5 No rain on field since last week. Field was irrigated on 8-15. Insect pressure remains low and the fungicide application has shut down the frogeye.
Randolph Asgrow  RR


R5 No rain since last week. Picked up green cloverworms and small grasshoppers, with minimal defoliation. No disease pressure.
St. Francis TV 49L29 LL Late R5 Field received no rainfall since last week. No insect pressure this week. Cercospra was present this week, but I think we are far enough along that it won’t be a problem. Irrigation continues.
White NK S49-F8 RR R5 Field received no rain since last week & was irrigated on 8-14. Insect & disease pressure was low this week.
