Rice research verification program update for August 16, 2014
Author: Ralph Mazzanti, Rice Research Verification Coordinator

Some verification fields seem to be 7 days behind the DD-50’s. With that said there are three fields that are now draining which include Arkansas, Chicot and Prairie Counties that average 4.6 days ahead of the DD-50 drain date.  Five fields are at 100% headed, three fields at 100% heading and three fields at 50% heading.  RSBs have been very light this year and are scattered.  The only field treated for RSB’s was Arkansas County reaching 7 per 10 sweeps.  Rice disease also seems to be in check.  The fields sprayed with a fungicide were Lincoln County for sheath blight and Prairie and Clay Counties for blast prevention.
