Rice Research Verification Program Update – May 9, 2014
Author: Ralph Mazzanti, Rice Research Verification Coordinator
General South Arkansas: Nine out of ten rice verification fields have been planted south of I-40. Herbicide applications have been halted due to high wind. Hopefully after the weekend rain and fronts the wind will lay. Prairie County, a water-seeded field, is at the 3 leaf stage. A total of five fields are at the 2-3 leaf stage. Good planting progress was made this past week with the much needed dry weather. Herbicides activated with last week’s rain are providing excellent weed control so far.   The Desha County field is being flushed for activation.
