Rains and cool temperatures continue to slow planting progress and crop development. Today’s Crop Progress report released by the Arkansas NASS office indicated that only “2.8 days were suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday, April 6, 2014”. Planting progress for corn, rice, grain sorghum and soybeans is at or near that of 2013 and well behind the 5-year average rate.
NOTE: USDA delayed today’s U.S. Crop Progress report until tomorrow April 8 at 3:00 p.m. central.
