The Arkansas 2012 cash soybean market gained 45 cents over the weekend before settling down to a fairly stable price range through the past week (Figure 1). The statewide market average on Monday was $14.46. Price bounced around within a 23 cent range during the week before posting a $14.54 closing average to end the week. The closing average price represented an overall gain of 53 cents from the prior Friday closing average and 8 cents over Monday. Highest individual daily market price for the week was $15.07 at Old Town/Elaine on Wednesday with West Memphis $15.04. Old Town/Elaine was quoted at exactly $15.00 on Thursday and these three days were the only individual market quotes at or above $15.00. The low individual daily price was $14.01 on Monday at Jonesboro. Five of the fourteen state markets stopped providing quotes on Tuesday. Individual market quotes on the last trading day ranged from the low of $14.22 at Jonesboro to a high of $14.99 at Old Town/Elaine. The closing day price spread spanned a 77 cent range, down 16 cents from the prior week closing range.

The second full week of 2013 New Crop Booking Price quotes saw the market open with a $12.69 per bushel statewide average, up 21 cents from the prior Friday closing mark. The New Crop price had just a slight upward trend through the week and ended the week at $12.78, a 30 cent improvement from the prior Friday close and 9 cents over the Monday statewide average (Figure 2). High individual daily market average for the week was $13.07 at West Memphis on Wednesday. Lowest individual daily quote was $12.43 reported by both Jonesboro and Wynne on Tuesday. All fourteen state markets continued to provide New Crop Booking quotes. The last day of trading quotes ranged from the $12.52 low at Jonesboro and Wynne to the high of $13.02 at West Memphis, Helena, and Old Town/Elaine. These quotes put the statewide closing day price range at 50 cents, 5 cents wider than the previous end-of-week range.
