July 24: Farms, EPA and Corps of Engineers
Author: Mary Hightower, University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – In March, a lawsuit was filed by several environmental groups against the Environmental Protection Agency that could impact farming throughout the Mississippi River basin.

“The lawsuit could ultimately impact the use of fertilizer and other farming practices in the Delta and other areas,” said Harrison Pittman, director of the National Agricultural Law Center, part of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. “It’s imperative that producers, landowners and others have a basic understanding of the role played by the EPA and Army Corps of Engineers, and the courts, in the future of agriculture in the Mississippi River Basin.”

To aid in that understanding, the National Agricultural Law Center is hosting an hourlong webinar on July 24 beginning at noon Eastern/11 a.m. Central.

There is no charge to attend. The webinar is being presented by Pittman and Grant Ballard, an associate with the Banks Law Firm and a Research Consultant to the National Agricultural Law Center.

Participating in the webinar is very easy. At the noon eastern/11 a.m. start time, simply click here: and sign in as a guest.

The webinar is provided with generous support by the Banks Law Firm, PLLC. The Banks Firm has provided a gift on behalf of the National Agricultural Law Center to create a premier legal education presentation series focused on southern agricultural producers and to help promote the 25th anniversary of the Center. This webinar is a part of those efforts.
