Corn – All the fields received rain on June 10 and 11. Rain amounts ranged from 0.35 inches in Clay County to 3.00 inches in Desha and Drew Counties. The fields are in reproductive stages and are utilizing the maximum amount of water possible. The fields are using around 0.33 inches of water a day. This means most of the fields are calling for irrigation every 5 days. The fields continue to be free of disease.
Grain Sorghum – The grain sorghum fields are heading and the field in St Francis County is flowering. The St Francis field was scouted on June 13 for midge. The eastern edge of the field has Johnsongrass and a few midge was found there. Nothing was found on the other side of the field. The County Agent scouted the field again on June 15 and about two per head were found on the eastern side and a border spray was recommended.
