Corn and Grain Sorghum Research Verification Program Weekly Update – May 21, 2012
Author: Kevin Lawson, Program Associate - Corn & Grain Sorghum Verification

Corn – All the fields have received at least one irrigation, and pretassel nitrogen is the next recommendation for most of the fields.  The recommendation will be 100 lbs of Urea (46 units N), and will finish up our nitrogen requirements for the fields.  This is a critical time for the fields, as they are growing rapidly and are susceptible to high winds and green snap.  Irrigations will continue this week.

Grain Sorghum – Both of the grain sorghum fields are growing very well.  The field in Desha County will need irrigation by the end of the week.  The field in St Francis County is non irrigated but still has moisture and growing good.
