Corn and Grain Sorghum Research Verification Program Weekly Update – May 14, 2012
Author: Kevin Lawson, Program Associate - Corn & Grain Sorghum Verification

Corn – Fields continue to receive irrigations.  The rain that came through on May 7 caught a few of the fields and is helping extend the next irrigation.  A few fields received some late weed control, but for the most part all the fields are clean.  The fields will be scouted next week for pretassel nitrogen recommendations.

Grain Sorghum – The Desha County field continues to recover from the gramoxone drift.  The field looks really good, even though winds laid some over this week.  It should stand up and do fine.  The St Francis County field continues to do well and received a very critical rain on May 7 since the field is non irrigated.  One more good rain between now and boot should get us to our next critical level.
