The much-needed rain across South Arkansas Monday was a tremendous help for emerging rice stands. Five verification fields are at early tiller stage. Postemergence herbicides are being applied. Five fields, Arkansas 1, Arkansas 2, Chicot 1, Chicot 2 and Lee Counties will receive pre-flood nitrogen as soon as the ground dries. N-STaR* samples have been determined. Several fields have reduced N rate while a few have a slight increase. The goal for N-STaR* is to get the RIGHT N rate for the field.
