The Corn Verification fields all received a good rain on April 15. Rain measured anywhere between 0.85 to 1.25 inches. Sidedress nitrogen was applied on the Desha and Prairie County fields and schduled to be applied on the Arkansas, Drew, and Poinsett fields. Clay and Lawrence/Randolph fields are a little behind the other fields and will probably have fertilizer recommended this week. Weed control applications were also recommended on all the fields except Clay and Lawrence/Randolph. Cooler weather has slowed growth on all fields.
The two grain sorghum fields also received the rain on April 15. The Desha County field received 1 inch and the St Francis County field only received 0.4 inches. The Desha County field is purple from the cooler weather, but should come out of it.

Arkansas Terral REV 28HR20 V4 5 in Field received 1 inch of rain. Recommended applying 290 lbs of Urea (133 units N) and Halex GT plus Atrazine for weed control.
Clay Pioneer P2088HR V2 2 in Field received 1 inch of rain. Stand count was 32,500 plants per acre. Scout again next week for fertilizer and weeds.
Desha DeKalb DKC 66-96 V4 5 in Field received 1.25 inches of rain. 1 gallon of Zinc was applied by air. 20 gallons of 32% was knifed in two days later. Scout next week for weeds.
Drew DeKalb DKC 64-69 V3 4 in Field received 1 inch of rain. Recommended applying 250 lbs of Urea (115 units N) and Roundup and Atrazine for weed control.
Lawrence/
RandolphPioneer 2088HR V1 1.5 in Field received 0.95 inches of rain. About 10 to 20% of the field did not germinate at planting due to dry soil. This rain helped germinate that seed. Will take stand counts next week.
Poinsett Armor 1262DPRO V3 4 in Field received 0.85 inches of rain. Recommended applying 275 lbs of Urea (127 units N) and Halex GT plus Atrazine for weed control.
Prairie DeKalb DKC 64-69 V4 6 in Field received 1.10 inches of rain. 250 lbs of Urea (115 units N) was applied ahead of the rain. Recommended applying Halex GT plus Atrazine for weed control.
Grain Sorghum
Desha Pioneer 84G62 V3 3 in Field received 1 inch of rain. Cooler weather has turned many of the plants purple, but they should come out of it. Stand count was 88,900 plants per acre.
St Francis Pioneer
83G66V3 2.5 in Field received 0.4 inches of rain. Stand count was 70,400 plants per acre. Recommended 240 lbs of Urea (110 units N). Will scout next week for weeds.
