The Cotton, Corn, and Soybean Research Verification Programs have teamed up to offer a Row Crop Verification Tour in Northeast Arkansas. The tour will be held on July 13th, will begin with registration at 8:45 and will start at the Doug Threlkeld Farm in Paragould, Arkansas. This tour will showcase the Greene County Corn Verification, the Craighead County Cotton Verification and Craighead County On-Farm Standardized Cotton Variety Trial, the Poinsett County Soybean Verification and soybean small plot work that is being conducted on the Scott Matthews Farm outside of Weiner, Arkansas. The Row Crop Research Verification Coordinators will discuss the weed, insect, and agronomic issues that have been faced up to this point in the season and what was done to correct any problems that have been noticed in the fields. The tour will conclude with a BBQ lunch at the Scott Matthews shop. The Row Crop Verification Coordinators hope to make this an annual event and hope to rotate it to different parts of the state. This meeting is open to all eligible persons without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, marital or veteran status, or any other legally protected status. Persons with disabilities who require alternative means for communication of program information (large print, audiotapes, etc.) should notify the county Extension office (or other appropriate office) as soon as possible prior to the activity.
